History
Grace Lutheran was founded in 1985. The first service was held on February 10, 1985, at Dennis Chavez Elementary School. The congregation was accepted into the Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod on June 6, 1985. The original building, which includes the present-day fellowship hall, kitchen, and offices, was built in 1986. The current sanctuary was completed in 1998 and the education wing was completed in 2001.
Grace has been served by six pastors. Rev. Kurt Brink, retired at the time, served as temporary pastor in the earliest days of Grace. Rev. David Cloeter became Grace’s first fulltime pastor in 1986. In 1994, Rev. Randall Golter was installed as the pastor at Grace. He oversaw the planning and construction of the present-day sanctuary and education wing. After leaving Grace in 2001, Rev. Golter was elected President of the Rocky Mountain District in 2003. Rev. Warren Graff served Grace from 2002 until his retirement in 2022. Rev. Marsh Shamburger was ordained at Grace through the SMP program in 2018, where he served until 2021 when he moved to Ft. Wayne Indiana to complete residential seminary training. Rev. Aaron Richert was installed as pastor in June 2023 and continues to serve Grace to this day.
